Xiaomi recently announced the next version of its Android-based operating system, MIUI 10, and it is expected to be unveiled on May 31, alongside the company’s next flagship smartphone, the Mi 8. Ahead of the official unveiling, TechnoCodex has posted some screenshots of MIUI 10 online, which reveal some of the design changes on the upcoming OS. Going by the images, MIUI 10 could feature new design changes closely resembling the ones we have seen on Android P. A new floating window is seen in the screenshots, along with a new white and Blue colour theme and one can see the use of rounded rectangles for nearly everything, ranging from notifications to recent apps menu. As per the report, MIUI 10 will come with support for ‘full touch gesture controls’ and perform “faster than lightning.” The gesture controls are present on Android P as well, but that’s not where the similarities end. Xiaomi’s UI is seen sporting the volume control bar vertically at the right edge of the screen, with a button to quickly put the device in silent mode. A three dot menu is also present, tapping on which expands the volume slider to show more options for controlling media and alarm. The report also hints at the Xiaomi devices one can expect the update to be rolled out for. The list includes the Xiaomi Mi 6, Mi 5/5s/Plus, Mi 4, Mi 3, Mi 4s, Mi 4c, Mi Mix, Mi Mix 2, Redmi Y1/Lite, Mi Note 2, Mi Note 3, Redmi Note 3/ Pro, Redmi Note 4/4x, Redmi 5A, Redmi Note 5A, Mi 5X, Mi Max, Mi Max 2, Redmi 4/4x, Redmi 4A, Redmi 3/3S/Prime, Redmi Pro, Redmi 3x, Mi Pad 3, Redmi Note 5 (Pro), Redmi S2, Mi 6X, And Mi Mix 2S. As mentioned earlier, the Mi 8 is also expected to be launched alongside the unveiling of MIUI 10. The company’s CEO Lei Jun has confirmed that alongside the smartphone, the Mi Band 3 will also be unveiled on May 31, at the company’s 8th-anniversary event. The Mi Band 3 will reportedly feature a large 2.5D full-touch curved display without any physical button this time. There will be options to check your steps, heart rate and the time. Users will have to slide the screen up or down to access the features, instead of pressing the button like on the Mi Band 2.
